Kashmiris Freedom Fighters Reacted against Indian Army?
By Zaheerul Hassan
17 Indian soldiers killed and any injured when freedom fighters stormed the administrator camp of 10 Gorkha Punja Regiment of 12 Brigade Headquarters located in North Kashmir’s Uri town , 102 kms from Srinagar, around 4 am on 18 September 2016. According to the observers four freedom fighters has also probably used explosive during their attack. The brigade Headquarters and Dogra regiment are part of 19 Divisional headquarters that is located in Baramullah .
Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Indian Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag rushed to control and monitor the uncontrolled situation in Indian occupied Kashmir.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also postponed his visit to Russia and UK and an emergency meeting to review the situation arising out of the terror attack.
Notably, a similar type of attack at Mohra in the same area has been carried out by the freedom fighters on 5 December 2015. During that attack ten security personnel were killed.
Independent opinion makers believed, Kashmiris freedom fighters reacted against Indian army brutality which is continue for the last two months. According to authenticated media reports, in Occupied Kashmir, death toll in the ongoing Intifada has risen to 103 and hundreds injured . Most of the martyred and injured Kashmiris include old, young, children and female. Therefore, such type of reaction from freedom fighter side was quite obvious.
Indian Home Minister has postponed his scheduled visit to Russia and the United States in the wake of the attack in Uri and the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. He was scheduled to leave for Russia on 18 September 2016 night for a four-day bilateral visit and later to the US on 26 September for a six-day tour to attend the Indo-US Homeland Security Dialogue. He gave open threat of attacking without realizing that Pakistan is a nuclear power that possessed with tactical nuclear weapons too. So any Indian misadventure would be returned with dividend to her by Pakistan. However, Pakistani foreign office out rightly rejected Indian stance and demanded to stop brutality against Kashmir.
Another group of independent observers considers that the attack on the camp was launched by India herself. The purpose of staging this drama was to divert attention of international community away from Indian state terrorism against innocent Kashmiris. Possibility could be that at the occasions of 71st Session of UN General Assembly beginning on 19 September, 2016 in New York, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of India has staged this drama just to molest Kashmiri Independent movement as an act of terrorism. In this regard, Mishal Malik, wife of Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, while discussing the current episode on electric channel of mainstream media said that attack on Brigade Headquarters has been planned and staged by Indian intelligence agency , with the objective of alleging and depicting Kashmiri Independent movement as militancy against the state. Apparently, timing of attack do confirm that the said attack have been planned to damage Kashmir cause when Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Nawaz Sharif is going to raise Kashmir issue in his speech on in the 71st Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 71) at UN Headquarters on 19 September 2016. He has also Hurriyet leaders that Pakistan will raise Kashmir issue at every global forum.
Interestingly, India has imposed curfew in complete area for the last 80 days ,so passing or crossing line of control and entering into the camp is simply impossibly. Moreover, Pakistan Army rejected “unfounded and pre-mature” allegations leveled by India after attack on an Indian army brigade headquarters in Uri near Line of Control. According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Director Generals of military operations of both the countries held a contact on hotline on the request of Indian side. He confirmed that Pakistan’s DGMO has sought actionable intelligence from his Indian counterpart.
He also reiterated that no infiltration is allowed from Pakistani soil because water tight arrangements are in place on both sides of LoC and Working Boundary all along, the ISPR added.
However, there are many others strong reasons to believe that now Kashmiri people particularly young generation has probably decided to intensify their struggle for liberation of Kashmir while throwing out Indian forces from the territory.
While discussing attack on Brigade Headquarters and solution to Kashmir Issue internationally renowned analyst Pervez Iqbal Cheema stated that India should seriously consider Pakistan’s offer for dialogue. “Indian contention of Pakistan’s involvement in Kashmir is false and ungrounded altogether. The world is witnessing new uprising in Kashmir after the assassination of Burhan Wani,” he said.
Cheema very rightly deduced that the movement in Kashmir was on a renewed rise. “The human rights organisations should visit and review the situation in Kashmir,” he added.
In fact, India always forcefully tried to suppress the genuine demand of Kashmiri people. She refused to permit Human Rights Commissions’s representative to visit Indian held Kashmir. Whereas on the other hand Pakistan always said welcome to neutral military observer and fact finding missions to visit both side of the Kashmir. Leaders of Indian held Kashmir also demanded the comity of nations to at least send independent and neutral observers to monitor the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir and also send doctors to provide treatment to hundreds of Kashmiri youth injured by the Indian occupation forces.
In this connection , UN High Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein also admitted and informed Geneva-based Human Rights Council that he received a letter from Pakistan on Sept 9,2016 formally inviting a team from his office to visit AJK but only in tandem with a mission to the Indian side.
“I have yet to receive a formal letter from the government of India. I therefore request here and publicly, from the two governments, access that is unconditional to both sides of the line of control,” he said.
Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said Indian refusal to permit United Nations High Commission on Human Rights to send its fact-finding mission to Occupied Kashmir proved India was trying to hide facts regarding human rights violations in the valley. She said closing of Amnesty International offices, refusal of fact-finding mission of UNCHR and no reply to OIC’s fact-finding mission proposal simply proved India was trying to blackout facts in IHK.
Pakistan and Kashmiris always asked India to resolve the issue under 5 January 1949 UN resolution but New Delhi never ever respected international laws and reluctant to conduct plebiscites under UN arrangements. Thus, leadership of both the countries need to sit together and resolve the burning issue of Kashmir under UN regulations They must understand that Kashmir issue is unresolved and has to be settled for avoidance of nuclear conflict.
