Pakistan: Lawyers Protested against FIA prosecutor’s murder
ISLAMABAD: The legal fraternity on Friday announced to boycott court proceedings in lower court against murder of FIA prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar in Islamabad, FP News desk reported.
Chaudhry Zulfiqar was prosecutor in Benazir Bhutto murder case. He was also the prosecutor investigating the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Unidentified bike riders opened fire on Zulfiqar’s car in G/9 sector when he left his home to appear in hearing of Benazir Bhutto murder case involving former president Pervez Musharraf who is under arrest in his Chak Shahzad farmhouse where he is being interrogated by FIA and police teams.
Chaudhry died on the spot while his guard was injured.
Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Dr. Amjad has condemned the murder.
On Friday, Secretary of the High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi (HCBAR), Faisal Niazi announced that lawyers of HCBAR and District Bar Association Rawalpindi (DBAR) would observe strike in lower courts.
He called for early arrest of the culprits, appealing Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo moto notice of the assassination.
