Sonam Kapoor can’t wait to play Rekha
Remember Rekha in the 1980 classic, Khubsoorat? Sonam Kapoor is stepping in her shoes for the movie’s upcoming remake, and she can’t wait to get started.
“Yes, I am doing the remake of Rekha-ji starrer Khubsoorat, and I promise we are going to make an interesting film,” says Sonam, who is
currently shooting the final schedule of her next film, Raanjhana, in Delhi. The film is set to release in June, followed by Farhan Akhtar’s Bhaag Milka Bhaag in July.
Before Khubsoorat, she also has a Yash Raj film with Ayushmann Khurrana to finish, which she will start shooting for, next month.
“After finishing work on all three films, she would like to fully concentrate on Khubsoorat. The film will go on the floor later this year,” says her spokesperson.
Sonam will also be seeking guidance from Rekha to get her character right.
Younger sister and filmmaker Rhea Kapoor has bought the official rights to the film, and Shashanka Ghosh of Quick Gun Murugan fame is directing it. The flick, say makers, will have a young and contemporary feel to it and will be primarily shot in the royal palaces of Rajasthan. The rest of the cast is still being decided upon.
