Valley college students to hold protest against detention of pro-freedom leaders
Srinagar, July 11: (GNS) Students of various colleges affiliated to University of Kashmir today met in Srinagar and urged all students of the valley to register protest against the continuous detention of various pro-freedom leaders in general and Syed Ali Shah Geelani in particular.
According to GNS, the students after three hour long deliberations with each other finally arrived at a consensus that it was necessary for student community to remain united as they are inalienable part of Kashmiri society that has resisted against Indian occupation for over sixty five years.
The students vowed to carry forward the legacy of resistance and urged all students of colleges and varsities of Jammu and Kashmir to hold protest demonstrations in respective universities and colleges on 15th of July.
The students also urged student unions, teachers’ associations and non teaching staff to support the protest program. (GNS)
Expressing serious concern over the ailing health of its incarcerated leader Dr Muhammad Qasim Faktoo in jail and slapping of 11th PSA on Mushtaq ul Islam, Muslim League Jammu Kashmir Thursday warned authorities of dire consequences if any untoward incident happens with its leaders.
“Any harm to Dr Qasim will give rise to such fire which will burn even New Delhi,” Muslim League General Secretary Abdul Ahad Parra in a statement issued to Global News Service said.
He said Kashmiris have neither bowed before oppression of India nor will they ever do so. “Doesn’t matter how much tyranny India and its agents will inflict upon our leaders they will never surrender or bow before India.”
Meanwhile, Muslim League JK has urged international bodies and human rights organizations to take cognizance of the ailing health of Dr Muhammad Qasim and pressurize India to take proper medical care of the incarcerated leader. (GNS)
