By Zaheerul Hassan
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, General Raheel Shrif along with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong has inaugurated the grand opening ceremony of the strategically vital Gwadar port on November 13, 2016. The Gwadar Port currently has 11.5 meters depth, however; it would be more deepen uptill 14 meters and will enable docking of larger ships with a deadweight tonnage of up to 70,000. Its’ current capacity permits a maximum 20,000 DWT. The operationalisation and opening of trade activities at the port is a key project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and will prove as game changer for Pakistani nation. Carefully estimated analyses reveal that in future almost 46 more countries are going to be connected to this economic corridor and that will help in boasting their economies. CPEC will also facilitate in integrating South Asia, China and Central Asia and provide opportunities to inhabitants of this region and global investors. At the same time Chinese control over the port and presence of her forces will help in bringing regional stability by putting a stop to further Indian naval expansions and dream of her hegemonic decision in Indian Ocean.
At this occasions, PM Nawaz very rightly said that first major trade cargo from Gwadar Port emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to China’s One Belt-One Road initiative. Chinese Ambassador while talking to the dignities attending the ceremony said, “This is the first time that a trade convoy successfully passed through the western part of Pakistan from the north to the south. It proves the connectivity of the local roads and the realisation of the concept of one corridor with multiple passages.” Chief Minister of Balochistan Defence Minister and other officials were present at the ceremony.
According to Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Asim Bajwa the first mega trade convoy of containers had arrived from China and will be loaded into ships. He said that the trade convoy departed from Kashgar, China, on Oct 29, entered Pakistan on Oct 30 and reached Gwadar on Nov 12. Chinese vessels were ready at Gwadar Port for shipment of Chinese goods to Middle East and African countries. The first consignment was consisting of A Chinese Ship, billed as “He Lee” docked at Gwadar Port to take a Chinese consignment and carry some 300 containers to western markets. This consignment had reached Pakistan from Kashghar and was ultimately brought to Gwadar through CPEC western route.
However, a day earlier to the ceremony, opposing forces launched a suicidal attack on innocent pilgrims who were present at Darga Shah Norini . Probably, it was their last attempt of eclipsing the launching of this pilot project of CPEC success. The Darga is 250 KM away from Karachi and 750 kilometers (460 miles) south of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. In this blast 56 worshippers killed and over 100 individuals severely injured. It is mentionable here that till November 13, 2016, in 59 incidents total 316 individuals killed and more than 434 injured . Undoubtedly, here every independent opinion’s makers, scholars of international relations, politicians irrespective of their differences and supreme intelligence agency (ISI) believe with proofs that unrest in the country particular in Balochistan is a move of Indian sinister design against Pakistan.
In this regard Afghan intelligence agency NDS facilitate and provide bases to the terrorists operating against Pakistan. India is also training militants, funding terrorists’ organizations and giving asylums to anti Pakistan elements. Recently in September 2016 Brahamdagh Bugti, who has been living in Switzerland, approached the Indian Embassy in Geneva seeking political asylum in India. His application was received by the Home Ministry in New Delhi which is examining it.
Moreover, in March 2016 Pakistani security agencies arrested Indian national Kulbhushan Yadav. He was deputed in Balochistan for running a network of spies as directed by Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).’ During investigation, he has confirmed the same and acknowledged that he was running a militants’ network for fomenting terrorism and subversive activities in Pakistan.
India is posing internal and external threat to Pakistan, a day after the CPEC ceremony seven Pakistani soldiers were martyred due to Indian unprovoked firing on LoC. During this year India has more than 302 times violated the ceasefire line and hit innocent’s children, women and others villagers and Pakistani soldiers. During indiscriminate fire India has also used heavy weapons against border belt area and Pakistani Army Posts. In this connection, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry summoned Indian High Commissioner and condemned the unprovoked Ceasefire Violation of Indian occupation forces at Line of Control.
In short, the above narrated Indian misadventures and sponsorships of militant groups particularly, BNP, TPP, killing 2000 Skihs in 1983 and supporting The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Sri Lanka, creation of Mukti Bani in former East Pakistan, occupying Kashmir forcefully, bombing Samjhauta Express in 2007 and releasing main culprit (Col Prohit ) and attacks on Christians in southern Karnataka in 2008 are some of the naked examples of spreading and promoting regional terrorism of Delhi’s sinister design against Pakistan and South Asian countries.
Indian purpose of multiplication of terrorist’s activities directly posing threat to CPEC projects and security of Balochistan. Notably, despite aggressive intelligence agenda of RAW, Pakistani security agencies and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) ensured the successful launching of pilot project. Nonetheless, with help of Baloch nation, Pakistani security forces not only defeated Indian agenda but also conveyed the message across that they are determined to complete CPEC project and will ensure the fool proof security of each and very consignments passing through the economic corridor. Moreover, government should also ensure the implementation on the policy actions of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-Balochistan that was approved by the Joint Session of Parliament on November 25, 2009.
