Husain Haqqani’s Support to Anti-Pakistan Lobbies
If we take note of the US strategy about Pakistan in the past few years, we can observe that America is playing a double game with Islamabad. Sometimes, US top officials admire Pak Army’s action against the Taliban militants, including arrests of the top Al Qaeda commanders by Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI), sometimes, they accuse ISI and Pak Army of supporting Afghan Taliban and cross-border terrorism in Afghanistan, sometimes, they misconceive that Pak nukes are not safe.
When in the recent past, Pakistan’s armed forces broke the backbone of the militants by achieving successes against the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb, while restoring peace in Balochistan and Karachi, the US high officials and those of other western countries highly appreciated Pakistan’s war on terror. But, some American high officials, including Afghan and Indian rulers have, again, started blame game against Pakistan in relation to Afghanistan.
In fact, since Pakistan became the only declared nuclear country in the Islamic World, US, India and Israel started acting upon their collective agenda to destabilize it. After the shift of the Great Game from Central Asia to Pakistan, the country has become special target of American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad which have been supporting target killings, suicide attacks, hostage-takings, sectarian and ethnic violence in various cities, and separatist elements in Balochistan. These foreign agencies based in Afghanistan have been sending well-trained agents and militants in Pakistan who also attack the check posts of Pakistan’s security forces.
Washington which signed an agreement of civil nuclear technology with New Delhi also wants to counterbalance China by India. However, Afghanistan has become a hub from where these external secret agencies have been funding and arranging subversive activities in other parts of Pakistan—especially in Balochistan through their affiliated militant groups at the cost of Pakistan, China and Iran. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has become special target of CIA, Mossad and RAW.
Overtly, American high officials remark that they seek stability in Pakistan, but covertly, they continue to destabilize it, especially with the assistance of India. Indo-US lobbies which are well-penetrated in the US administration, think tanks and universities leave no stone unturned in continuing their endless propaganda against Pakistan.
It is regrettable that some Pakistanis have become part of the US-led organized propaganda campaign against their own country. In this regard, Husain Haqqani, the former ambassador of Pakistan to the United States supports anti-Pakistan lobbies, while living in America, as his various statements, articles and books show.
Husain Haqqani is writing a book tilled “Re-lmaging Pakistan: Transforming a Dysfunctional Nuclear Slats” which will be released in August 2017 on the 70th anniversary of Pakistan. It will be published by Harper Collins Publishers India.
Haqqani is a highly opportunist, cunning and ambitious individual who is known for his anti-Pakistan and anti-Army views. He professes that partition of India, and Pakistan was a bad idea and holds uncharitable views about Quaid-e-Azam also. His wife Farah Naz Ispahani also joins him in his highly virulent rhetoric against ideology, Armed Forces and people or Pakistan.
Some online reports disclosed that there are confirmed reports of his working and facilitating Altaf Hussain to get US nationality and arranging his settlement in Chicago—USA to rescue him from cases in UK.
The reports disclosed that Husain Haqqani consorted with a Hindu girl of RAW, Dr Aparna Pande, as his secretary to handled all secret corresponds, when Haqqani was ambassador of Pakistan in Washington. Dr Aparna Pande is believed to have close links with Indian establishment. In January 2016, both traveled to India and visited Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), an Indian think tank established by Ajit Doval (Indian NSA). He provided insight to VIF officials on affairs related to Pakistan.
These online sources also revealed that Haqqani teamed up with Indian lobby and some diehard anti-Pakistan elements, being funded for their campaign to isolate and defame Pakistan; others in this group include Bruce Riedel, Christine Fair, Ayesha Siddiqa, Tariq Fateh, etc. And, his latest book is aimed at giving credence to the Indian baseless allegations against Pakistan, in the context of Pakistan’s alleged support to Kashmir freedom struggle.
As regards Husain Haqqani, while serving as Pakistani ambassador, he was protecting American interests. He had issued visas to many CIA agents like Ramond Davis to weaken Pakistan. Besides, working at various American institutes, Husain Haqqani developed secret liaisons with Indo-Israeli lobbies and became covert element of anti-Pakistan campaign. Particularly, this could be judged from his book, titled, ‘Pakistan: Between Mosque and Military.’ In this book, Husain Haqqani targeted both military and Islamic ideology. While pointing out relationship of the Pak Army and its primary intelligence agency, ISI with the Islamic militants, Haqqani allegedly wrote, “since September 11, 2001, the selective cooperation of Pakistan’s military ruler, General Pervez Musharraf—sharing intelligence with the United States and apprehending Al Qaeda members—have led to the assumption that Pakistan might be ready to give up its long-standing ties with radical Islam.” He advised America, “Washington should no longer condone the Pakistani military’s support for Islamic militants.”
American famous writers and authors exaggeratedly praised the book of Husain Haqqani.as it was in accordance with the hidden agenda and blame game of the US high officials and media which still continue against Pakistan and its security agencies. Especially, Stephen P. Cohen, author of the book, ‘The Idea of Pakistan and The Pakistan Army’ allegedly wrote, “We are in Husain Haqqani’s debt for providing the authoritative account of the linkages between Pakistan’s powerful Islamists and its professional army.”
Moreover, Hussain Haqqani also escaped to America to avoid judicial inquiry of the famous memogate issue, which proved his disloyalty to Pakistan.
It is notable that during his briefing to the National Assembly, on January 19, 2016, while confirming anti-Pakistan lobbies in the US, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif revealed, “Pakistan is trying to acquire eight F-16 fighter jets from the US on lease, but Husain Haqqani, the former ambassador to the US is campaigning along with India to malign Pakistan and to block delivery of F-16 fighter jets.”
Nonetheless, we can claim that Husain Haqqani supports anti-Pakistan lobbies. Hence his integrity is clearly fully doubtful.
