Geelani calls for post-Friday protests against mysterious killings

‘It’s moral sin to remain mute spectators’

Srinagar, July 16: (GNS) Reacting against the unfortunate mysterious deaths of two Kashmiri youth in Mumbai and Rajasthan Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani has appealed people to observe peaceful protest demonstrations after Friday prayers on July 19.

“It is a serious matter and until the facts are traced, it is obligatory for us to raise voice against such brutal killings,” Geelani in a statement issued to Global News Service said. He said although nothing is definitive in this regard but administration has attributed the killings with the accident. “Until all the facts are not brought up with evidences, nothing can be said with authority.”

Syed Ali Geelani said, the way Kashmiri youth are treated and terrified outside state, there is every possibility that youth might have been subjected to torture and come across with a pre-planned event.

Condemning the continued detention of its district president Abdul Gani Bhat, Muslim League leaders including its General Secretary Abdul Ahad Parra and other Hurriyat leaders, Syed Ali Geelani demanded their immediate release.

“Omer Abdullah led administration has denied any political space for pro-freedom leaders and has waged a war against its leaders,” he said, adding that they are subjected to political vengeance and unconstitutional restrictions are being imposed to curb their movement.

Commenting over the prevailing situation in state the Hurriyat Chairman said it is the forced silence and not peace that Omar Abdullah claims.”It is through martial law type administration that they have maintained silence.”

While reiterating his appeal for peaceful demonstrations after Friday prayer against the killings of two youth Syed Ali Geelani said that it is as obligatory as offering prayers and observation of fast. “It is a moral sin to act as mute spectator against the state sponsored terrorism.” (GNS)
