Chaudhry-Aslam

The widow of SP CID, Chaudhry Aslam told Geo News in an exclusive interview on Monday that the bombproof vehicle which remained in her husband’s use belonged to his friend who had taken it back a few days prior to the deadly attack.

“It is the responsibility of the government to provide a bombproof vehicle,” Noureen Aslam said.

She also disclosed that the friend who had provided the bulletproof vehicle had not even come to offer condolences to the family.

According to police, Chaudhry Aslam was in a bulletproof vehicle which could not withstand the bomb attack in broad daylight in the provincial capital on January 9.

The martyred police officer’s widow further claimed that the Karachi Police Chief Shahid Hayat had telephoned Chaudhry Aslam on the day of attack, telling him to report at the office.

Aslam who was considered one of Pakistan’s toughest policemen was killed when an explosive laden pickup truck was rammed into his vehicle in Karachi on January 9. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.

Police claimed to have identified the attacker involved in the bombing as Naeemullah a resident of PIB colony in Karachi.

The services of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have been acquired for the probe into Chaudhry Aslam’s murder case.

Sources said the US criminal investigative body and an internal intelligence agency FBI technical expertise have been acquired, while 200 persons were thus far interrogated and the statements of 35 persons recorded.
