Pakistan must play more Test cricket: Wasim Akram
ISLAMABAD: Former captain and pace bowler Wasim Akram has said that Pakistan is not playing enough Test cricket which is essential to boost a team’s confidence.
Talking to private news channel, former bowling great said that national team would not be able to compete with other countries in this genre of cricket if they do not get to play more tests.
Wasim said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) needs to address this issue and make it one of their priorities as Pakistan is simply not playing enough Test cricket.
Wasim Akram further said that PCB should organize more Under-19 tours in order to explore young and raw talent for future cricket.
He said Pakistan coaches and those on the fringes of selection, must give full attention to work with the U19 boys.
He added that a strong national team is always backed by the strong domestic cricket system as it can be observed in countries like Australia.
“Australia has one of the best domestic cricket system in the world and that is why departure of any great team mate does not effect the team performance as another young blood is always ready to grab the place”, Wasim said.
Talking about the 2015 World Cup, Wasim Akram said that from the Pakistani perspective the planning has to start right now to achieve a strong footing in the international tournament.
